Hi everyone! I've just completed my first full retightening on fellow SL trainee Cheryl Grant Samms. Whoot whoot! We're both very pleased with the results, and have decided to retighten each others hair, to increase our speed as certified trainees.
I gather my first time was a little like breaking in new shoes. The first times a little snug, but it gets easier each step you take. I learned that you have to be mindful of how you're sitting or standing as you retighten. You feel it in your arms, shoulders and back if you're in one position too long. I had to take a few moments to stretch. Other than that, it was awesome. I felt quite accomplished when I was done! Lucky for me she has low density, it would have taken me two or three times as long if she had had high density. Good luck to Cheryl who's scheduled to retighten mine in a few weeks. She has her work cut out for her because my hair is definitely on the dense side of things. Here are some pictures we took during the process.

**To anyone planning to take the training, working on a human head is much easier than a mannequin head!

Hello Lovelies! Guess who took the sisterlocks class? Me! Yaaay! I'm now available to install and retighten them in the Boston area. I've learned so much about black hair. Even after so many years of wearing my hair natural, there was so much that I didn't understand about our different hair textures, curl patterns, density etc. I didn't realize how beneficial this class would be to me. I also now understand the importance of proper maintenance, and how neglecting this effects our hair overtime. I am a believer of the sister lock products. I have started using them, and am already seeing results (less shedding). Other products are formulated to detangle our hair--->NOT what we want to do. This actually disrupts our hair ESPECIALLY before it locks. This causes the locking process to take much longer. Sisterlock products clean and treat hair while allowing the hair to remain in its natural form. Try them for yourself!

Hello all! Its been a long while since I've posted anything new. Anywhoo, April 26, 2010 will make it my 2nd sister lock anniversary! Yaaaaaay! I took this pic over the weekend and thought I'd share it with ya'll. Cute huh? Incase you were wondering how I styled it...here you go.
1.Part a big square section in the front of your head
2.Tie an elastic close to the end of that square section
3.Hold it straight up in the air and lean it to one side
4.Push it into itself while rolling it back to one side
5.Use a few hair pins to keep it in place
6.Next I took two pieces from each side of my head
7.Bring them together, roll them in towards your scalp
8.Use a few pins to hold it in place, and your done!

It's about time I posted these....so this is day 2 of my sl instalation. I thought it looked kinda funny at first because it looked like unfinished braids....that is until I took a steamy shower the next morning. My ends curled right up! I thought it looked gr8! The pic at the bottom of the bunch is me a few weeks into my sl.

So last weekend, some friends and I wen't to a lounge called Kings in downtown Boston. We had sooo much fun. It was kareoke night...so you know I was up there singing...had backup singers and everything! We sounded bad...but it's all good!

(April 08) First we surprised our friend Carlie, with her first surprise pty, at one of the best tasting Peruvian-South American-Brazillian resturaunts in Boston. We also made her a tripple story Vanilla cake with chocolate shavings and strawberries the week before that to share with our church choir after practice. She was moved to tears both times.

This year me and my girl friends celebrated each others birthday's as follow's

(early June 08)Next girl friend Tamara was escorted by a Boston Petty-Cab to the Charles playhouse to see what she had wanted the...BLUE MAN GROUP! and then we had dessert at Finale's in Back Bay

(late June 08) Then it was MY turn.. I was diven to Rhode Island to a lovely Japenese resturaunt, seranaded on the Gondola and than we enjoyed dessert at the oh so cazy L'Ezabeth's

And finnaly Just this past weekend it was our girl Ketsia's Bday...She was surprised with a massage therapist awaiting her in her living room, who then gave her a full body hot oil massage, We made breakfast, then we went to NY chilled for a bit and later enjoyed a night on the town

1)I'm a hygiene freak. I've been known to descretly look in peoples mouths to see if they are properly cleaning there tongues when they brush. People need to brush there tongues ESPECIALLY the back. You can tell if there tongue is dirty if it has a white film on it...your tongue should be pink....whew! So glad to get that off my chest.

2) I can only fall asleep if I'm laying on my stomach..so I'll deff be miserable when I'm pregnant.

3)I pray to God my future husband doesn't drool cuz I will leave him...lol jk

4)I love Reeses peanut butter cups...always felt they should have made it a bar though, you'd get more that way. Anyhoo, I eat the outside chocolate, then I eat the peanut butter

5)I wanna be rich but not famous...I wouldn't wan't the paparazzi in my butt all day.

thoughts on the presidential debate

During this debate McCain repeatedly states what he believes Obama "doesn't understand" I found it quite amusing because after each of those statement's Obama makes it clear how much he really does understand. It seemed like McCain was on offence and Obama was on defence the entire debate. However, everytime McCain came at him seemingly about to score Obama shot the ball back down like "uh uh I don't think so". One thing McCain states is that Obama doesn't understand the difference between "tactic and strategy" (concerning the war) Obama replies "I absolutely understand the difference between tactics and strategy. And the strategic question that the president has to ask is not whether or not we are employing a particular approach in the country once we have made the decision to be there." Obama pointed out the the flaws in the Bush administration and makes it clear that Mcain was clearly wrong about the war. Obama also made his case for change in our economy and foreign policy. Throughout the debate Obama stood his ground while McCain tried to badger him and point out a bunch of half truths, which Obama finishes and clears up every time. Obama clearly has a wealth of knowlege on foreign policy. He did well tonight...It's not looking so good for McCain...look out America change is coming, and his name is Obama!

So, this Saturday will make it four weeks since my last retightening, and I guess I'm in a funk. I love the freshly retightened look. It's long gone now...womp womp. Ehh I'll get over it. Uhhh...I soo need a mani AND a pedi..not to mention my eyebrows needed to be plucked....long ago. I'm just being lazy. Oh and forget about shaving my leg's lol. That bareley ever gets done...unless I'm wearing a skirt of coarse...TMI? probably...but you'll get over it.
I really haven't been styling my hair much lately. I pretty much just leave a part on the side, and call it a day. I'm planning to curl it on Saturday with my soft spikes. I have to look fly on Sunday, It's the celebration of our harvest an my church. It's common knowlege that we need to look fly on this day...tradition I guess...bout to go shopping...hmmm I'm feeling like I want to wear ruffles...oooh purple ruffles. I saw this purple top with ruffles in this little boutique in the lower mills, bout to go cop that. I'll be sure to take pics on Sunday and post them. well, I gotta get outa here. Until my next blog post....and I'm off!

I went to get the purple ruffley top, and the friggin thing didn't fit me right.I was deffinately heated that I drove all that way for nothing. I went to another boutique and got this cute black top....proly rock that with a pencil skirt & pearls..I dunno we'll see.

Hey You! Welcome to my blog.

This Blog will mainly consist of my sister lock journey, (Shout out to my loctician Jaqueline Ashby!) my make up models and whatever else may be on my mind that day.

So, about my sister locks...I love them!!! If you know me, I'm sure you already know...heehee. Anyhoo, it's pretty much the best decision I've made for my hair since birth. I got my first relaxer, in probably the fourth grade. I remember standing in front of my bathroom mirror, whipping my hair back and forth, mesmerized by how it moved. I've always had thick full hair, that is until it was damaged by all the chemicals I put in it, year after year. As a result I proceded to grow it out, and then relax it, time and time again. I went natural a few times as a pre-teen, then as a teen, and then a few times into adulthood.

I had had a full head of thick un relaxed hair from 2002 until about 2005. One of those day's my mother suggested I get a relaxer again. Somehow thinking that this time would be different I decided to relax it again. It looked really pretty...until it fell out again six months later. I transitioned out of the relaxer by getting single braids and full weaves. One day as I was taking out my braids, I decided to cut off all of my hair, minus the new growth. Frustrated, and fed up with relaxers, I decided I was going to get traditional locks, hence my fear of the begginning stages of the locking process. I started them with Yarn to try and skip the short twist looking stage. I kept them in for about 3-4 months, that is until my Aunt who has traditional locks told me to look up sister locks. I did, and was fairly impressed with the look of them. Shortly after that, I was walking through downtown Boston, and saw a young lady with the most beautiful hair I'd ever seen. I stared her down so hard she probably thought I was gay..lol...Anyhoo, I stoped her and asked her about them. That was the day I decided. I needed sister locks in my life. I finally started my sister locks April 25th-26th 2008. It took about 20 hours, combining both day's. Today I'm 4 months, and a few weeks into my journey. I couldn't be happier.
